    Hi,

I have redirected my old domain to the new domain and also redirected all old posts and pages to the new one. Now I want to clarify my doubt, in this case, shall I need to set canonical tags?

If your answer is Yes then please tell me do I have to put canonical tags of the new domain and post on all my old posts and domains?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.

Redirected URLs doesn’t necessarily need to have canonical tag in them. What you need to confirm is the destination/new URL is containing self-referecing canonical/ new domain canonical in it.

Since Google doesn’t index redirected URLs, the only URL will be indexed is the new domain URL.

Hope that helps, and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

Thanks, that’s all what I want to know 🙂
