Hello, we apologize for the issue you are facing with your WebP images showing as "Crawled – currently not indexed" in Google Search Console.
It’s important to understand that WebP images are treated differently by Google compared to HTML pages. Since they are image files, they do not get indexed in the same way as webpages do. This can lead to confusion when you see WebP images listed under this status.
Even though these images may appear as "Crawled – currently not indexed," they can still be discovered through Google Image Search. Therefore, if you see this status for your WebP images, you can safely ignore it.

Hello,
Please note that the images are only supposed to be indexed in Image Search, and they shouldn’t be submitted to the GSC account as in Google Search Console, the indexing report is for HTML pages, not for the images.
However, even though Google has discovered your image files and crawled them, they are not supposed to be indexed in the normal search results, and that’s why they are in the Crawled – Currently not Indexed status.
In this case, you can ignore the status, as the images shouldn’t be indexed in the normal search results.
Looking forward to helping you.
This problem is occurring since 2-3 days and around 1000 URLs of webp images are crawled – currently not indexed
Hello,
Please check and ensure the Redirect Attachment option is enabled at WP Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Links:
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Hello,
You can use the URL inspection tool of your GSC account to check the URL and view the referring page to make sure from where it is coming.
Once you know the referring page, you can unlink or remove it so Google won’t discover it again.
Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thank you.
