W3C markup Valdidation: “Trailing slash on void elements”

As you can see also testing YOUR site (click here), the W3C Validation Service outputs many alert info messages about “Trailing slash on void elements has no effect and interacts badly with unquoted attribute values.”

Can you rewrite you function to not add trailing slashes to void elements?

    Any News?

    Hello,

We deeply apologize for the delay in our response.

Our developers are having a discussion if removing the closing slash in our plugin is something that can be done.

We will surely inform you once we have updates with regard to this.

    Thank you.

    Still no news?

    Hello,

No, your ticket is associated with the issue in our repository so when there’s an update on this matter we’ll also inform you of the same in this ticket.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

The notices you get in the W3C validator are only info and it also states that it has no effect and interacts badly with unquoted attribute values. We never use unquoted attribute values in the metatags, so this shouldn’t be a problem. You can ignore those info messages.

I hope this clears up the confusion. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

    Thank you.

I am so sorry that you take this topic so lightly. A plugin that deals with SEO should also pay close attention to the correct writing of the HTML code, and since the transition to HTML5 is now complete, continuing to persevere with writing “old” code doesn’t seem like a professional attitude to me.
I’ll have to look for other SEO solutions or come up with a function that “cleans up” your “dirty” code.

    Hello,

Sorry for not following up quickly and for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

All the metatags added by the Rank Math plugin are correctly written. As I mentioned in my previous reply, those messages you see in the W3C validator are neither warnings nor errors. They are only Informational messages. Since we never add unquoted attribute values in the metatags, those messages can be ignored.

    I hope that helps.

    Hello,
