Sorry to disappoint but, unfortunately, that is not possible with the 404 monitor. We did not implement that due to speed concerns.
We would have to do the tracking of all the users otherwise and that will bloat not only the plugin but the site’s database.

I understand, but maybe it could be a feature that is optional, with a clear warning that using it can affect performance/bloat.
It would be extremely useful because I could then correct possibly any external links that are incorrect rather than continually redirecting. My site gets scraped a lot (which is where many 404s originate I think) and being able to indemnify the source of incorrect or obsolete links would help in finding the scrapers.

This will help you get rid of almost all the 404s. If the 404s are originating from external sources – they can be harder to fix at source because you need to contact each webmaster and ask them to update the link. It can get very time consuming depending on how many links you have on external websites.

Yes, this is what I am sure is happening, hence my request. I am well familiar with how to deal with redirections. My problem are the pirate sites that have (for example) created a PDF of my entire site and uploaded illegally.
If I could trace the origin that would be a start, hence my request that it be an optional feature. If it is optional people could decide whether or not to use it and make their own decision about any performance hit on their site.

Doing that would mean essentially building a full backlink tracking service. That is simply outside the scope of the plugin we provide.
We would request you to try a service like ahrefs.com or something similar.
