1. Enable the Schema Module

Make sure that the Schema module is enabled in Rank Math. You can do this by navigating to WordPress Dashboard → Rank Math SEO and enabling the Schema module.

2. Add a Featured Image to Your Page or Post

If you have enabled the Autodetect Video and Autogenerate Image options, Rank Math will automatically detect your videos and fetch their thumbnails. However, if your video is hosted on your WordPress site, you should add a featured image:

• Go to the post or page where your video is located.
• Click the Settings/Sidebar icon in the top taskbar.
• In the sidebar, scroll to the Featured Image section and click Set featured image to select or upload a thumbnail image from your media files.

3. Add a Custom thumbnailUrl Property via Video Schema

If you want to use a custom thumbnail instead of the featured image:

• Open the Rank Math metabox on your post.
• Click the Schema icon and navigate to the Video Schema.
• In the Schema Builder, locate the VIDEO THUMBNAIL section and paste your video’s custom thumbnail image URL. Then click Save for this Post.

4. Validate Your Page Schema Markup

After making these changes, validate your Schema again using Google Rich Results Test to ensure that the error is resolved.

Hello,

The option to add the thumbnail URL in the Video Schema is only available in the PRO version of the plugin.

In the free version, you can add the Featured image to the page to fix this issue.

We also have the “Autogenerate Image” option in the PRO version of the plugin, which automatically generates the thumbnail URL for your schema. For more details, you can check this URL: https://rankmath.com/kb/titles-and-meta/#posts-autogenerate-image
