  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Product variations are not usually listed in the product structured data. Please check this Google article on Product schema and related properties: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/product

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me.

That seems a bit strange as my variations contain information about their individual sizes, colours, etc and also has information like the variant’s GTIN13, MPN and Price.

I’ve seen documentation suggesting that I can include some of that data with Rank Math – is this not the case?

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George,

We are sorry but we are not printing variations into the Schema. I am sharing this with the dev. team and we will see about having an option during a future release of the plugin.

If you are good with coding, you can use our filter to extend the Schema and include variations information into your Product Schema:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/filters-hooks-api-developer/#extend-json-ld-data

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hi Uzair,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I would imagine this is an issue for other users. My main issue is that, for example, clothing items that come in multiple sizes, the main Variation Master product doesn’t actually exist, so it means that the variations with their MPN, GTIN-13 and prices aren’t picked up by Google. As a result, my variable products rank very low when compared to other simple products.

This is what I think it should follow: https://schema.org/ProductGroup (although it doesn’t yet appear to have been adopted by Google)

I’d be happy to work with your developers to look at what needs to be added and test out any trials.

    Kind regards,
    George

    Hi George,

We have to follow a roadmap and this is already on our agenda.

We will be adding features into the plugin to make this possible very shortly.

Appreciate your patience with this in the meantime. As I said, you can code it in if you have a developer working for you and don’t want to wait for us to introduce this feature.

    Hi Uzair,

That’s great – I look forward to the update!

    Kind regards,
    George
