using same keyword on multiple pages

Hi. I could not find any articles addressing this issue, so hopefully this is simple enough to where you can just point me to some.

In the case of a submenu containing a group of pages all related to the same keyword, is it best practice to use the exact same keyword, or should each page be slightly different? To be clear, here’s what I have:
    Page 1
    Page 2
    Page 3
    Page 4
Page 5 (unique topic and unique keyword)
-Page 5b (should these pages have identical keyword?)
    -Page 5c
    -Page 5d
    -Page 5e

I realize I’m asking a philosophical question instead of a technical question, as I’m not sure which scenario is best from an SEO perspective.

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support today and bringing your concern to our attention.

I wouldn’t recommend setting the same keyword on multiple posts or pages although it is possible to do in Rank Math. Targetting multiple posts for the same keyword would divide the traffic on your website, and it is also not a good SEO practice.

Under the Additional tests section of the SEO Meta Box, Rank Math notifies you if you have already used the current focus keyword in other posts.

Please refer to this tutorial guide for more details:

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    That’s very helpful, thank you!
