  • Subject: Assistance Required – CSV Import Not Working in Rank Math SEO Pro

    Hello Rank Math Support Team,

I’m trying to import SEO metadata using the CSV import feature in Rank Math SEO Pro, but I keep encountering the following error:
“CSV import completed. Imported 0 rows. One or more errors occurred while importing: Missing one or more required columns.”

    Steps I’ve Taken:
Ensured that my CSV file follows the format specified in your documentation.
    Included the required columns:
    ID (empty)
    URL (full page URL)
    post_type (set to “post”)
    Title (meta title)
    Description (meta description)
    Primary Focus Keyword (focus keyword)
    Canonical URL (left blank)
Robots Meta (set to “index, follow”)
Saved the file in UTF-8 encoding without BOM and used a comma (,) delimiter.
Attempted different variations of column headers such as Type instead of post_type, Focus Keyword instead of Primary Focus Keyword, and included optional fields.
Still, the import does not process any rows, and I continue to get the “Missing one or more required columns” error.
    Request for Assistance:
Could you please confirm the exact column headers that Rank Math expects for a successful CSV import?
Are there any specific formatting requirements that I might be missing?
Would you be able to check my CSV file and identify why it’s failing?
I’ve attached my latest CSV file for reference. I’d appreciate your support in resolving this issue as soon as possible.

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the CSV import in Rank Math SEO Pro. Thank you for providing detailed information about the steps you’ve taken and the error message you’re encountering.

To successfully import SEO metadata using a CSV file, it’s crucial to ensure that the column headers match exactly what Rank Math expects. Here are the required columns for importing SEO metadata:

    1. ID (can be left empty)
    2. URL (full page URL)
    3. post_type (should be set to "post")
    4. Title (meta title)
    5. Description (meta description)
    6. Primary Focus Keyword (focus keyword)
    7. Canonical URL (can be left blank)
    8. Robots Meta (should be set to "index, follow")

    Make sure that:

    • The column headers are spelled exactly as listed above, including case sensitivity.
    • There are no extra spaces or hidden characters in the headers.
    • The file is saved in UTF-8 encoding without BOM and uses a comma (,) as the delimiter, which you have already done.

If you have confirmed that your CSV file matches these requirements and you are still encountering issues, we recommend checking the content of your CSV file for any formatting errors or inconsistencies in the data itself.

Unfortunately, we cannot directly check your attached CSV file here. However, if you reply to this ticket with your CSV file, a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will be able to assist you further and identify any specific issues with your file.

Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to helping you resolve this issue!

Hi, I had upgraded and paid for the pro account just to upload the meta information but it does not working.

you can check the file here:

I tried about 20 times with 20 updates and nothing works

    Hello,

Please note that the ID is required while trying to update the metadata using the CSV method. That’s why we suggest exporting a CSV file first from WP Dashboard > Rank Math > Status & Tools > Import & Export, and after making the changes, you can import that again.

For more details, you can check this URL: https://rankmath.com/kb/editing-seo-meta-at-scale/#csv

However, it seems like you purchased the plugin with some other email address.

Please share the email address which you used to purchase the plugin or you can search and forward the receipt from FastSpring.com so we can locate your account.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hello,

We have already replied to the ticket created in the PRO account regarding the file.

The ID values should match the post IDs from your site to update their metadata via CSV.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi Reinelle,

I had updated the id as well, and still it does not working.

    Hello,

Can you please confirm if the IDs you’ve added to the CSV match the post ID of your articles?

If they already do, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
