unwanted title in seo description and lack of keyword on main page

    I have two problems.

    1) Similar to this problem https://support.rankmath.com/ticket/no-keywords-found-in-the-page-title-and-the-description/

I don’t know how to fix this and where i can set keyword for main page (i have latest posts on main page).

    2) (bigger problem)

when I enter the name of my page in google, it also appears in the description, and I would like the description to be clean, with only what is entered in ” The META description of the home page” which i set in rank math options.

This is a problem because the description is only 150 characters long, and if google also sees a long page name in the description, the description is CUT

I showed on the screen https://imgur.com/a/EtkrAFh
that another page like wp.pl, even after typing only “wp” in google, still displays the correct description of the page without including its title in the description. How to fix it on my page?

    Thank you very much.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We do not offer keywords for the homepage unless you are using a static homepage.

If you’re using the latest post for your homepage, having focus keywords doesn’t make much sense since the homepage is ever-changing and you can’t really optimize that around a specific set of keywords.

For your second concern, it seems that your site’s already showing the correct meta title and description on the Google search results page. I’ve attached a screenshot in the sensitive data section.

Do note that if everything’s fine and Google still decides to show a different meta title/description for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Here are some of the common reasons Google might not use the meta description you provided:
The meta description is not relevant or useful (ie, just a collection of keywords).
The exact same meta description is provided across a large number of pages.
The meta description doesn’t match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.

There is a whole article dedicated to this on SearchEngineJournal:
    https://www.searchenginejournal.com/google-offers-suggestions-for-avoiding-meta-description-rewrites/359884/

Here is an example showing Google changes title depending on the keyword used:
    description
    &
    description 2

The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.

    Thank you.

“We do not offer keywords for the homepage unless you are using a static homepage.”

Then why Rank Math give me red message in analysis:

Keywords in Title & Description – No keywords found in the page title.

“The best you can do is optimize your meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.”

    Can you expand this topic?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Am assuming the error being displayed relates to this: No keywords found in the page title and the description.

Rank Math displays this when you have not used a keyword on your homepage. Now, in this case, you are not using a static page for your homepage. This is more of a custom page where you can create your own content, hence the reason why Rank Math includes options to add the keywords.

As for your homepage, you seem to have set it to display the latest posts which are more of a dynamic page. Rank Math has no way of adding keywords to dynamically generated pages.

Thus since it is the homepage, the SEO analyzer will still check it for a keyword as that is the default way of performing on-page analysis.

All in all, you should not be worried about this test and you can simply ignore it because you have already used the keywords within your posts also. Please note that these are just guidelines that are meant to help you achieve better on-page SEO for ranking.

Regarding the meta description on Google’s SERPs, it usually chooses the meta description based on the users’ keyword inserted on the search. It then returns a description that is more helpful to the user based on your content.

Therefore modification of your meta description or even your content does not guarantee that Google will show that exact meta description on the SERPs. Google is mostly in control of your meta description based on the user’s intent.

As for the character limit for descriptions on Google, please note that it generally truncates snippets to ~155–160 characters. It’s best to keep meta descriptions long enough that they’re sufficiently descriptive.

another page like wp.pl, even after typing only “wp” in google, still displays the correct description of the page without including its title in the description.

This could be happening because the site owner could have optimized their meta tags to try and match the intent of the search/keyword.

This is when the meta tags that include the description try to match the most used search terms on SERPs. This should also apply to your content, which should provide relevant information based on these search terms/keywords.

Please refer to this guide on how to optimize for search intent match metadata and content type to the intent: https://moz.com/blog/search-intent-and-seo-a-quick-guide

Hope this is helpful. Please let us know if you have any other questions for us.
We are looking forward to helping you.

One more question. How do i change topic of my blog. I saw in page rank test that i have energy/bussiness blog, but i have complely other. Where can i set this?
