Parsing error: Missing ‘,’ or ‘}’

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked the affected URLs using Google’s Rich Results test, and indeed there’s a parsing error from the schema.

Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    Thank you.

Thanks. I don’t think the health check will work because Google will check parsing with the visitor version of the site, not the one with some stuff turned off via the tool.

I’m using latest version of GeneratePress pro… seems to be just these two pages for now. I’ll see what I can figure out, I guess…

Okay, I changed … “yes”… in the first paragraph to yes w/out quotes and it kicked it down to a warning not an error…

Looks like it might be a quotes issue on your end?

Yeah, the other one had quotes around a single word in the first paragraph too. Taking them out dropped it to a warning…

    Hello,

We are glad that you were able to figure out and resolve the issue. However, I checked and wasn’t able to replicate the issue on my end. I used the quotes inside the description field of the Schema and it was validated without any issues.

If you want then you can add the quotes back and check again. Let us know if the issue persists.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

I’ll try to check if I have the time. Maybe it was weird smart quotes or something?

You know… I had them in the first paragraph of Gutenberg for the blog post… I didn’t enter it into the schema field… so maybe if it grabs it automatically there’s an error? I’ll try to let you know if it crops up again on another post…Thanks.

    Hello,

Yes, the description is taken from the SEO description field if you don’t enter it manually in the Schema. Let us know if the issue occurs again on any other post.

    We are here to assist.

    Thanks.

It was taking it from the first paragraph, not the SEO title field. Maybe that’s the problem? I’ll let you know if it happens again. Thanks.

    Hello,

We are glad to be of assistance and that this issue is now resolved. Just to add, as previously mentioned by my colleague, if you did not manually add the description in the schema, it will take a portion of the first paragraph and that should not be a problem.

Let us know how it goes with your test and please do not hesitate to ask and open a new support ticket.

We are here to help you.
