unexpected changes to slugs

    I have been experiencing the same issue documented here:https://wordpress.org/support/topic/unexpected-changes-to-page-slugs-in-wordpress/

    Things I have checked:
    plugins are updated
    no duplicate URLs or media attachments with the same slug
    my permalink structure is configured correctly
    i have no attachment urls that could be causing a redirect attachments issue
    this seems to occur randomly and when i make edits to the pages. After saving the URL contains suffixes of -2-2 and the slug itself changes to another page name with the suffix appended.
