I am experiencing issues with Rank Math interface in Elementor.
Any changes made are not able to be saved.
Any changes made result in SEO interface becoming blank:
    https://ibb.co/1bpnmBR
(in this case it was adding one new word to the title in Preview Snippet Editor)
Clicking another tag and then SEO tag refreshes interface with the change made still present.
But still this does not allow to save any changes. Using the WordPress Editor any changes can be saved and these appear in the Elementor interface.

I have turned off all other plugins to no avail.

I am just running (turning off anything else would be just stupid!):
    Elementor 3.1.4
    ElementorPro 3.2.1
    Rank Math 1.0.62

(Disabled for testing: WordFence, Translate Press. Nothing else installed)

    Theme:
    Hello 2.3.1

Obviously this is very frustrating as the whole point of using Rank Math is its Elementor interface!

If you need any more detail please let me know.

  • Update:
If I make a change to the page itself (adding and removing a space for example) to force the update button to activate, saving at this point also saves the SEO changes.
This is a a workaround but not a great longterm solution

    Update:
Saving this way causes the SEO rank in the WordPress editor interface to register 0/100 but show as, in this case, 74/100 in the Elementor interface.
Previously when saving in the WordPress editior updated ranking was displayed at the same value (as you would expect) in the Elementor interface.
Any changes made in the WordPress interface do not update this ranking, and also set the ranking in the Elementor interface is then set to zero.
    https://ibb.co/Jxn4sFW
Changes then made in the Elementor interface (using the save fudge above) reflect in the Elementor interface but not in the WordPress editor interface.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for the unexpected delays and any inconvenience that might have caused.

It could be that your website is still experiencing a heavy conflict with other plugins or your current theme. If you never tried deactivating all the plugins, you can try this troubleshooting guide instead: https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

Let me know if you are able to find the cause of this issue.

If the issue does persist, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

As I tried to indicate in my previous messages I have already tried the ususal steps of disabling plugins to see if it is a conclict with no joy.

There are 2 left that I can disable which does get rid of the conflict and stops the error showing.

These are Elementor and Rank Math – guessing that is not what you mean though 🙂

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

You seem to have forgotten to share your site URL in the sensitive data section. Could you kindly share this as well so that we are in a position to access your site and troubleshoot this issue?

This also applies to your FTP credentials, please include the Host URL as well.

We are looking forward to helping you.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math today.

Upon checking your site I was able to see the score on both the Elementor page and the WP Editor section as shown:
    Elementor Page: https://i.rankmath.com/2xwFBi
    WP Editor Page: https://i.rankmath.com/ChVvsw

As you can see the two sections have different scores which are normal with the plugin. In most cases, this issue occurs when Elementor displays real shortcodes. You seem to have created your page here using Elementor as well.

Unlike the Gunternburg/Classic editor which does not show the shortcode content. This causes a difference in the content that is evaluated and thus the difference in the SEO score.

Elementor will use shortcodes to display the data, this might not be directly visible but it is what is causing the scores not to be precise and thus show these warnings.

You should always follow one editor’s score, plus, these scores are just guidelines, it doesn’t affect the page ranking. Thus if you are adding your content through Elementor, I’d recommend using the score on the Elementor edit page and the same case applies to WordPress editors.

I hope this helps you with your issue here and please feel free to let us know if you need anything else.

    Thank you.

Sorry, doesn’t answer the question at all.

In fact you have completely missed what the issue is.

The reasons that there are scores on both pages is that whilst waiting for a response I have been trying to find workarounds, especially if this starts to impact some of my more ‘important’ sites and clients.

The issue has not changed. It is still that you cannot save any changes in the Elementor interface. Did you try? I mean, did you really give it a go? There was a little clue in the title of this support request ‘Unable to to save any changes in Elementor’ but maybe I didn’t make it obvious enough.

    Can we try again?

I cannot save changes to the Rank Math SEO in the Elementor interface.

I don’t know how else to say this, or elexplain this, or get you to read through the problem. What have I missed? How can I have identified the problem better for you? Which bit of my explanation was not understood? Was giving fuller details of what I had tried and what I was seeing too much? Should I have not tried to solve this myself and just waited for you to see it earlier?

Please help me to understand how to better report issues, because the polite gentle pat on the head with a “there, there, nothing’s really wrong” tone of the reply above may have worked for me 50 years ago when I grazed a knee but does feel extrememly patronising today.

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us and Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Upon checking your website I have noticed that the Elementor can not save the changes made even for your content. This seems to be an internal conflict with our plugin and Elementor.

However, upon further investigations, I have noticed that the issue is being caused by your theme. I have switched to the default theme twenty-twenty and did not replicate the issue.

You may want to check if you have inserted any custom work that would halt making changes on Elementor while the Rank Math plugin is installed. If not, make a point of consulting your theme developer regarding this issue.

Hope this clarifies this issue better. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi Brian,

That’s intersting becuase I am not getting issues with saving the content of the page in Elementor. In fact that is the only way I can save any SEO updates that done within the Elementor interface (make the SEO changes, make a ‘fake’ change to the page which activates the save button, save changes = changes saved). Just to reiterate I am not having issue with saving page content.

However, switching the theme (although you can’t get much blander or more vanilla than the Hello theme) still does not resolve this issue for me. Even with a different theme running I am unable to save changes to the SEO in the Elementor interface.

Could you please tell exactly what steps you took to sytop this issue, and the test you ran to show it was no longer an issue; so that I can replicate the results at my end please?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Upon checking your site, the changes for your content are now getting saved. However, I have noticed the issue you are talking about which relates to SEO changes does not trigger Elemeentor’s update button.

Kindly confirm if this is the issue you mean so we can forward this to the devs team as well.

We are also replicating the same as these SEO changes are triggered via JS which does not seem to reflect a change in the Elementor.

If you would wish to make an update of these SEO changes you may have to do an update onto the content as a workaround.

We are looking forward to helping you.
    Thank you.

    Hi Brian,

Yes, as I stated updating the content as a work around is what I am doing but this is a real PITA and another, what should be unnecesary, step; it is very kind that you offer this back to me as a workaround.

I am not sure how else you would normally save updates to the SEO settings aother than clicking the “Elementor updte button”, so yes the issue relates to the fact that “SEO changes does not trigger Elemeentor’s update button.” I wasn’t aware there was another way of saving updates.

I am now experiencing this same issue on another site – one on which I will soon be promoting Rank Math so it would be good to get this resolved.

    Hello,

Thank you for that information, and apologies for the delay.

This is a known issue with Elementor that the Rank Math changes are not getting saved if there are no changes made in the content, making the update button to be disabled.

However, we are already fixing this issue on a priority with Elementor and we will update you once we have a fix available for everyone. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and would like to request your kind patience as we resolve this.

Meanwhile, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime to assist you further with anything else.

    Thank you.
