I have successfully connected Rank Math on two sites, but I am experiencing an error at my site jeremyrhammond.com where it is showing as not connected, even though in my Rank Math account, it is showing as connected (see screenshots). I have tried deactivating, deleting, and reinstalling the plugin, but this problem persists.
I also successfully connected Rank Math to Search Console on the one other sites I tried this on, but again at jeremyrhammond.com, I am unable to do so. After authorizing, nothing appears in the drop-down list and an error message appears (see screenshot). Waiting for the cron job as it says did nothing. Clicking “Update cache manually” does nothing. I have also tried de-authorizing and re-authorizing many times but get the same result every time.
Please help me resolve these two issues. I have searched the forums and saw that others had experienced both of these problems, but I was unable to find any solution that worked for me.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
Since you tried everything without a solution, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
After checking it I would say you should test three things:
– To disable WordFence (temporary) and check if now you can
– Ask your hosting support to check the cron jobs
– Create a new Gmail account, verify in that account this property and try to link the new Search Console (the one in the new Gmail account) with Rank MathLooking forward to help you.
I had already tried deactivating WordFence, but I tried again anyhow, and it still didn’t resolve the problem. I kept it deactivated while trying all other additional steps.
I contacted my web host support and a gentleman spent a lot of time with me trying to resolve this problem, but we could not figure it out. He saw no problems with my cron jobs. I tried deleting the cache and updating it manually, but that didn’t work. We tried de-authorizing Search Console in RankMath, removing it from approved 3rd party apps in my Google account, and then reauthorizing, but that also failed. I tried deleting the RankMath plugin and deleting all plugin database tables, then reinstalling and reauthorizing, but that didn’t work. I also tried verifying my site with a different Gmail account and connecting to that Search Console account instead, but I got the same result.
Nothing I tried works. I am still getting the same error trying to connect Rank Math to my Search Console property, and when I go to Dashboard > Help or “SEO Analysis”, the plugin says its not connected to my Rank Math account, even though in my Rank Math account under “Websites”, it shows as connected.
I will update the secret area above with a new login for my WP admin momentarily.
Hello,
I have done some tests and unfortunately it doesnβt seem to be working on your server.
We are re-writing the Search Console integration and we request you to check back during a future update of Rank Math.
In the meantime, please disable Search Console module from WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard.
And, install the Site Kit plugin and use it for it:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-site-kit/If you need help with anything else, please open a new support ticket here so we can help.
We are always here for assistance.
Thanks for the update regarding Search Console.
However, I am still also unable to use the important SEO Analysis feature because it says my Rank Math account is not connected, so I still need help with that.
Hi Jeremy,
We have been working on a fix and we have a solution. Since we cannot replicate this issue ourself, we request you to update to the below version of Rank Math by doing the following:
1. Remove Rank Math from WP > Plugins. Don’t worry, all your settings are safe in your database and they will return once you upload the below version.2. Install this version of Rank Math on your website by uploading it from WP > Plugins > Add New.
Here are the files: https://i.rankmath.com/GprWvy
Here’s a small video tutorial:
https://i.rankmath.com/T1DqJL3. Activate the Rank Math plugin after it is done uploading.
4. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > Dashboard > Help
Connect to your Rank Math account.
5. Go to WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math > General Settings > Search Console
Re-Authorize your Google Search Console.
That’s it. The issue should not come back.
Do let us know how it goes.
This update fixed the problem of Rank Math showing that I’m not connected to my Rank Math account. Thank you.
However, the problem of not being able to select my Search Console property persists. I am still getting the following error message:
The data sets are empty in your cache. You can wait for the next cronjob (02/07/2020 00:00:00) or Update Manually.
Note: Please update your data by clicking on ‘Update Manually’. Google only stores data from the last 90 days – a dataset older than that can’t be updated anymore.
Hi Jeremy,
I am glad one issue is fixed.
About the second one, can you please install Crontrol on your website and see if the jobs are running correctly?
I had already installed Advanced Cron Manager to check that, but I’ve now also installed WP Crontrol, and it’s not giving me any indication that cron jobs aren’t running properly.
When I installed Rank Math, I had disabled the default WordPress cron and implemented it on my server, following these instructions from HostGator:
https://www.hostgator.com/help/article/how-to-replace-wordpress-cron-with-a-real-cron-job
However, when I saw the error in Rank Math, I assumed it wasn’t working properly and so disabled the server cron and reenabled the default WordPress cron job, which does appear to be running normally. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or related that I’d installed Rank Math while running what numerous articles describe as a “real” cron job to replace the memory-consuming default cron built into WP.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.
You site went to critical error when I enabled the troubleshooting mode with the Heath check plugin. Could you please try authorizing with Rank math active on a default theme to check if this works.
If it still doesn’t, please enable wp_debug so we can check if there are any related errors that are logged.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.

I reproduced the critical error upon trying to activate the troubleshooting mode myself, which resulted in my site going down and me being locked out from the WP admin. I had to use the recovery mode to regain access.
WP was showing an error loading my Divi theme files. In recovery mode, I deactivated all plugins, but this did not resolve the theme error. I installed a maintenance mode plugin to prevent users from seeing errors while I work on fixing this. I deleted and reuploaded Divi, which resolved that error. I reactivated certain essential plugins, ensured my site was loading properly.
Once that was resolved, I disabled recovery mode. With maintenance mode still activated, I reactivated the Site Health plugin and activated troubleshooting mode. The critical error did not recur. In troubleshooting mode, confirmed the frontened was loading the Twenty Twenty theme; then I activated Rank Math and tried again to authorize Search Console, but the problem persisted.
Please advise what further steps can be taken to troubleshoot and resolve this problem.
Unrelatedly, I am getting this warning from Rank Math: “Please keep only one Sitemap plugin active, otherwise, you might lose your rankings and traffic. Click here to Deactivate.” This is due to me having the “XML Sitemap & Google News” plugin activated, but it is set up to NOT generate the main sitemap, which is being generated by RankMath, and only to generate a Google News sitemap, which RankMath doesn’t offer. I chose this plugin specifically because in the knowledgebase a support person said doing this is compatible. I’ve clicked the “X” to remove the warning, but it continually reappears. Please let me know whether this is a true conflict. If it’s not something to worry about, perhaps a future update could resolve it so as not to trigger the warning unnecessarily.
Hello,
About the next steps to troubleshoot your issue, let me consult with the devs, so I can guide you better.
About the sitemaps, you can ignore that warning, it is safe. We will look into it to avoid showing that notification when it is not necessary in future updates.
Looking forward to help you.
Thank you. I have just updated RankMath to the latest version (1.0.45), the changelog for which said it included a fix for some users who were unable to connect to Search Console. I was hopeful this would resolve my problem, but FYI, it did not. I still need help to resolve this problem.
Hello,
The access you have provided no longer seem to be working. Please update so we can dig deeper into this.
Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
