Two Slashes on Canonical

    I am now seeing two slashes at the end of the canonical URL in the SEO panel for certain pages. You can see the image here:

    It’s not doing it on all pages, it appears. I have not changed my permalink setting, which remains like this:

    Help, please. Thank you…

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    We might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

    It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

    You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

    We really look forward to helping you.

    I don’t believe it’s a setting. It doesn’t appear to be affecting the search console behavior. I also looked at the RankMath site and I see the same thing in the canonical reference:

    Mine:
    <link rel=”canonical” href=”https://savannahsconecompany.com/savannah-bakery-that-delivers/&#8221; />

    Rankmath:
    <link rel=”canonical” href=”https://rankmath.com/&#8221; />

    Is that extra slash correct or a small bug? It is just showing up in the placeholder area for the canonical in the RM SEO panel in Elementor.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I do not see the extra slash on our website:

    If you mean this part:

    That is just the closing HTML tag, not an “extra” slash.

    I do not see the extra slash in the URL you shared either:

    Again, the one you might be referring to is a closing tag which is not the same thing as having an extra slash in the canonical URL.

    Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

    Hello,

    Since we did not hear back from you for 15 days, we are assuming that you found the solution. We are closing this support ticket.

    If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.

    Thank you.
