twitter card

    Hi there,

I cannot get twitter to preview new posts on my website. I have tried using default rankmath robots.txt and also tried creating my own robots.txt file. I am using the twitter card validator to test. Older posts seem to work fine but the last two posts not. The previous to last post I uploaded a different picture to the featured picture (on the social schema settings on the post) which worked but it is odd to me. If I manually uploaded the correct featured pic in the schema settings it did not work.

    Can you advise please?

    Thanks so much

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math, and sorry for any inconvenience caused.

I checked the URL with Twitter Card Validator, the preview is displayed with the image.
Check the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

Please clear your website cache and check the URL with https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator

    Hope that helps.

    Thank you.

    Hi Anas,

Thanks for your reply. I did try clearing the cache before submitting my ticket.

I see your screenshot shows the image in the preview, but with me it does not. I have used different web browsers with cache cleared. I am also trying to share this post on twitter and in the twitter app on ios or on the web I get no image in the preview.

    What can that be?

    Hello,

    Are you using a CDN?

If yes, please clear the cache from there and try checking the URL again.

Let us know how it goes.

We are here to assist you.

    Hi Anas,

I am using cloudflare. I have purged all cache there and I still get no image in the card validator or on the twitter app itself.

    Hello,

I’ve also checked the image with the Twitter Card validator tool, and the image is already showing. The same thing happens when sharing the page on the Twitter application. Please refer to the screenshot in the sensitive data section.

However, I’ve checked your robots.txt, and it seems that you’re blocking Twitterbot to access your site with this rule:

    User-agent: Twitterbot
    Disallow: *

Please try using our recommended rules for your robots.txt and give some time for Twitter to update its cache.

Let us know how this goes.

    Thank you.

Thanks. I’ll change the robots.txt and see what happens. That was what your “virtual” robots.txt file looked like before I started troubleshooting and made my own robots.txt file.

I added a twitter handle/usdername to the social meta in your settings and right after that the above mentioned post showed the image. But again this only works with some of the posts. Some other posts and the home page still don’t show an image. Very frustrating.

I’ll get back to you… been trying everything…

    Hello,

If the issue persists, please share the affected URLs so we can check.

We look forward to helping you.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi again,

Thanks for your help so far. It’s frustrating as it works for some posts and not others. It is now working for the home page. I have included links to the posts that are currently not pulling the image data.
Is this normal behaviour? Is it normal for some people to pull the correct meta data and not others when trying to share?
    Thanks again.

    Hello,

It could be a cache issue. I checked the images you shared and two more of them are now showing images with the cards screenshots in sensitive data.

We can’t find anything that might be preventing the previews being rendered correctly for everyone.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Nigel. Seems like it. Thanks so much for all your help with this.

    Hello,
