Trailing slash

#78589
  • Hi,

I changed all of our URLs yesterday in the “Permalinks” section in WordPress yesterday (I removed the trailing slash), and Rankmath hasn’t registered this yet, so they are still referring to the old URL as the canonical.

This is a grave error, so how do we fix this without having to do it manually in every single post/page?

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting the support and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This should be automatically done unless you had added the canonical URLs manually.

If not, Assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Please let us know if you find the culprit.

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Hi,

I found the bug – RankMath is not working properly with ‘Classic Editor’.

Since this obviously is a very essential plugin to us, we can’t disable it.

Therefore, I will manually add the correct canonical URL for every single page as a temporary solution, until you have fixed the problem.

Please notify me on v*@u************ when you’ve fixed it 🙂

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I couldn’t reproduce this issue on my setup with/without the Classic Editor plugin. Please check the following screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/g0mhCC

Maybe some other plugin active on your site is causing this?

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Please let us know if you find the conflicting plugin so we can further debug this issue.

    I hope that helps.

    Hi Pratik,

I appreciate you taking the time, but it’s not the code of the page that’s showing it, but the actual RankMath SEO editor under ‘Advanced’ that shows the wrong (old) canonical URL.

When I did the troubleshooting, it was definitely the “Classic Editor” that caused this – I think a mistake occurred when you updated RankMath, and therefore, it’s not proper compatible with ‘Classic Editor’ currently.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

If that doesn’t work, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please include your WP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/

We really look forward to helping you.
