    Hello
Reading the questions answered about the news sitemap, I saw a comment about how you can alternate the Rank Math sitemap and the Google news sitemap.
Todd said content should be sent to the news sitemap but not go to the Rank Math sitemap, is that correct?
    How do I apply it?
Can I create a “News” category, and not index it to the Rank Math sitemap?

Michael Davis also commented that, that I understood, not indexing the “categories”, at this point I have lost.
If you can help me let me know.
    Thank you

PS: I enclose images of the comments of Todd and Michael.

  • Hello,

If you would like to post News along with other type of articles, and you want to use a third-party news sitemap for all the News posts, while Rank Math’s sitemap for other posts, then I would recommend using separate post types, one for regular posts and another one for News. That will certainly makes things easier for you in the future.

To create a new post type for News, you can use the Custom Post Type UI plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/
After creating a post type, you can simply head over to Rank Math > Sitemap Settings in your WordPress admin area, and select the News post type in the tabs list on the left side and disable it, so it won’t appear in the Rank Math sitemaps.

Hope that helps. If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Hi Balazs

My website is for local news, I used to use XML Sitemap & Google News, but I didn’t get good results.

The Rank Math plugin is really good, but it lacks the news plugin.
In the meantime I am looking for an alternative to use the Rank Math plugin while still sending content to Google News.

For a few days I used Rank Math plugin and Google News Sitemap (I deactivated XML Sitemap), it seems that Google did not like that action of mine.
In some response from Rank Math support, I thought I understood that Google understood it as “Duplicate Content.”

Now, I made a “news” NOINDEX category (for Google) but activated it for Google News. Do you think it will work? I don’t want to lose SEO and positioning.

    * I want to wait for the Rank Math sitemap to have the service for Google News.
    Thank you

    Extra text:
I do double content, the normal one and another one for the “News” category, I just leave the excerpt and add a “Read more” button and redirect to the normal content.
It’s a lot of work, do you think it will work?

    Thanks you again

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I cannot recommend having the same posts appearing on both sitemaps. I would suggest that you follow the recommendation from my colleague and create separate CPT for the news sitemap.

Looking forward to helping you. Thank you.
