TLSv1.3 unsupported

Just wanted to let you guys know, that if people are hosting on bleeding edge SSL technology and older TLS versions are unsupported, Rank Math’s SEO Analysis breaks with “API Error: 400”.

On Nginx, you must enable “ssl_protocols TLSv1.2”. If you are only allowing the most secure TLSv1.3 it doesn’t work.

  • Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We will see what can be done to support sites that have the “Minimum TLS Version” set to 1.3. For now, we recommend using TLS version 1.2 or lower as the minimum version, because even some browsers don’t support TLS v1.3, which means that some of your potential visitors would not be able to access your site (aside from our server also being unable to fetch your homepage for the SEO Analysis).

Even Cloudflare does not recommend setting “Minimum TLS Version” to 1.3: https://developers.cloudflare.com/ssl/edge-certificates/additional-options/minimum-tls/

It is not recommended to set the minimum TLS to 1.3, unless there is a specific use case, as this will likely cause issues with search engine crawlers and certain browsers.

    Hope that helps.
