Title tag in Woo Product pages is not affected by the Title settings in RankMath

My custom settings in Titles and Meta for Product post type are not affecting the actual product pages. For example, currently, it should be %title% %sep% %sep% %sitename%, but it’s only showing the product title, no extra %sep% and no %sitename%.

Secondary question: Once I’m able to control those titles, I would like to include the category (the last, or one of) in the title tag. What’s the markup for that?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math support, and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

I would like to start with your second question. You can make use of this variable %customterm(product_cat)%.

As for the incorrect title settings, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), it would seem like a conflict with one of the plugins or the theme you are using.

To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Here is a video you can follow as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcIWRhcUP2c

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress login in the designated Sensitive Data section.

    Hello,

I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?

    Thank you.

    Hi.

Thanks for the detailed information! I tried the troubleshooting plugin, and apparently, this happens even when only Woo and RankMath are enabled (2020 theme). BUT — it looks like it’s happening to some times, and not to others. I dug deeper, and apparently, the offending item(s) had the title explicitly specified (Example1 used to be like that, before I just fixed it). I’m puzzled by this because I didn’t use RankMath on this site before, and didn’t use any other SEO plugins from which this would be migrated (it was a migration from ZenCart, which didn’t assume RankMath, only the basic WP/Woo setup)… Do you have any ideas on how/why the title in the snippet settings for such products would be populated? I definitely know that I didn’t populate that field..

    Hello,

I can check that you used to have Yoast on your site as there is data in the database from Yoast:

If you imported the data from Yoast while setting up our plugin then the title set in Yoast must have been populated in the title field. You will have to remove them if you want to use the global title.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thanks.

It’s quite weird that Yoast is showing as the source, because I’m quite sure I never used Yoast on this site. It’s a brand new site (data migrated from ZenCart, which doesn’t have Yoast, etc), and I only install Rank Math on new sites, no Yoast…

    Hello,

I installed Yoast on your site and was able to check that the focus keywords were already set in Yoast and which means that the products were optimized before using Yoast. Please check the screencast in the sensitive data section.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

Thanks for looking into it for me. I think I found the “culprit” — the migration software that I was using to migrate from ZenCart to Woo apparently created those database entries for Yoast and for RankMath and migrated “meta title” data from ZenCart into there.

    Hello,

I am glad that you are able to see the source of the issue. If you experienced more issues with our plugin, just let us know. We are here to help you.

    Thank you.
