    Hi Rankmath Team,

Our site http://www.fastenmetal.com was indexed by google, but the meta description showed in the google indexed page, is not the meta description I wrote in rankmath. it seems google fetch a sentence from the pages randomly.

    For example below link:
    https://fastenmetal.com/threaded-rod/
I search the link in google, the meta description is not what I wrote.

Could I ask what is the problem? What should I do?I try to turn off the content AI just now.

    Looking forward to your help.

    Best Regards,
    Annie

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the meta description not appearing as you intended in Google search results. It’s important to note that even if you’ve set a specific meta description in Rank Math, Google may choose to display a different snippet based on what it deems more relevant to the user’s search query.

Here are some common reasons why Google might not use the meta description you provided:

    • The meta description is not relevant or useful, or it lacks quality (e.g., just a collection of keywords).
    • The same meta description is used across multiple pages.
    • The meta description does not match what the user is searching for, but other content on the page does.

To check if Google has indexed the latest version of your page, you can use the URL Inspection Tool in Google Search Console. Enter your page’s URL and check the last crawl date. If it’s before your changes, you can request indexing to prompt Google to re-crawl your page.

    Inspect URL on GSC

If everything seems correct and Google still displays a different description, unfortunately, this is beyond your control as Google sometimes overrides custom meta information. You can also refer to this article for more insights: Google Shows A Different Meta Title/Description For My Site.

    Hello,

Thank you for your query and we are so sorry about the trouble this must have caused.

Please check if Rank Math adds the correct meta title and description in your website’s page source. You can easily check that using this tool: https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/

If the meta information is already correct, then please note that it is a pretty common thing with Google these days. It happens with 70% of the results that even if everything’s fine, Google decides to show a different meta information for your search keyword, there is nothing you can do as Google sometimes ignores the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

To understand more about this, please check this article: https://rankmath.com/kb/different-meta-title-and-description/

Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any other questions.
