  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

This error message is because our plugin can’t find the file at the root of your website. This is not a requirement to add this file, but if you want to edit the file with Rank Math, please create one at the root of your website.

In case you are not sure about this you can ask your hosting provider to create a default one for you that you can then extend.

Hope this helps solve your issues.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.

    Thank you for the update.

I have checked my cpanel and found that htaccess file is inside public_html folder.

    File is in root directory.

If the file is not found in rank math plugin, is there will be any ranking effect to my site.

Also, if the already ranking site is been attacked by the malware. Will the complete ranking will get lost?

    Awaiting for the reply.

    Hello,

The .htaccess file has nothing to do with your website’s ranking although .htaccess files played a vital role such as redirecting your domain URL variations into one variation and other required configurations for a WordPress installation. https://wordpress.org/support/article/htaccess/

With that said, if Rank Math still wasn’t able to find your .htaccess file, please clear your website cache and any server-level caching and see if Rank Math is able to read the file.

We are looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Hello,

I tried checking your sitemap page on my end and it seems to be working just fine. I also submitted your sitemap to an XML Sitemap validator and it is returning without any errors as you can see in my screenshot here: https://i.rankmath.com/bPAqgO

Can you please follow these steps?

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

After that, remove all your sitemap/s from Google Search Console and submit only the primary sitemap (sitemap_index.xml).

Let me know how it goes. We are looking forward to helping you.
