  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

Usually, when using Rank Math with a translation plugin we only add the main language to the sitemap and rely on the href lang tag to tell Google of the other languages that page/post has.

It seems that your main post sitemap is adding all the languages. Are you using any filter to do that? Also, what translation plugin are you using on your website?

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

“Usually, when using Rank Math with a translation plugin we only add the main language to the sitemap”.

Which is not true, as I mentioned in my feedback – and you pointed out as well. It works for post_type but not for taxonomies – https://www.invest-design.com/post-sitemap.xml.

So if correct behaviour is “post_type” with translations and “taxonomies” without, that’s fine. But seemed weird to me, that

    Plugin – Polylang Pro.

PS: No, there is no filter or what so ever to do that. Just default Rank Math + Polylang Pro.

    Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us.

That plugin is not fully compatible with the way we generate the sitemaps and we have created a pull request on their repository a couple of years ago for them to approve and include the changes in the plugin to make it fully compatible with Rank Math, but so far they have not approved those changes:
    https://github.com/polylang/polylang/pull/373

If at any point they decide to merge and require any further tweaks from our end they know they can get in touch with us to accomplish that.

In the meantime, the sitemaps might give skewed results like that because the compatibility is not complete.

If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.
