    Hello Rankmath!

I had one issue I posted on FB group but it was declined asking me to open a ticket. No worries.

What if my pages are ranking not for the focused keywords but for the tags I used for that articles? I mean my blog post not ranking for a keyword but a keyword used as tag for the same article is ranking higher as tag archives in SERPs.

I searched on group and found that there was a setting to make tags noindex which was set to index I think by my mistake. So I changed that to noindex.

I think it is a duplicate content issue.

Now, I still see those tag archives in SERPs (even after noindexing them). Now, when I click on that tag archive, 404 page opens. Whereas, in rankmath I set redirection for deleted tags.

I don’t know what to do now. Please help me troubleshoot this issue.

    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

I logged into your website’s admin area and I found that you do not have any tags created. Please see the screenshot available in the sensitive data section of this ticket.

Could you please share the affected URL(s), so that we can further investigate the issue?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Yes because I deleted all those tags and have set up redirection for the affected pages. Yet I see those in SERPs.

For example, everything that links like

    https://pharmagxp.com/tags/

I don’t want /tags/ anything in front of it as indexed.

    Regards,
    Saket

    Hello,

Thank you for keeping in touch with us.

It seems that Google is still caching these pages for a long time. You will notice when I click on “Cached”, it will tell me that Google has seen this page last March 27. https://i.rankmath.com/e4GDZb

Can you please give Google a couple of days to recrawl your website and see if the URLs with tags are no longer indexed by them? Or, you can resubmit your sitemap to your Google Search Console and wait for Google to recrawl your site. You may follow this simple guide: https://rankmath.com/kb/submit-sitemap-to-google/

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Okay! So are you saying that once google recrawls my site, then all of these indexed tags will be removed from google search? Is there any procedure to remove the same from bing?

    Hello,

Thank you for the update, and sorry for the delay.

Yes, once Google recrawls your site, the deleted tags archive pages will be removed on the search results page. The same thing goes with Bing. Aside from setting those pages to noindex, you can also inform Bing that they are already deleted by following this guide.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance with anything else.
