Table of Contents SEO

    Rank Math free

    Hi,
    I’m very pleased with the performance of the Rank Math plugin.

    I would have a small question about SEO.

    I recently started using a plugin that adds ”Table of Contents”. It is ”LuckyWP Table of Contents”.
    From what I read on the net, it is compatible with Rank Math.

    LuckyWP Table of Contents has in its settings something about SEO:

    ==>Wrap table of contents with <!–noindex–> tag;

    ==>Use rel=”nofollow” for links.

    How does Rank Math recommend using these 2 options?

    Allow table indexing for SEO or no index and no follow?

    Is there any risk of generating duplicate urls?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for contacting us and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

    If you don’t want to get your TOC links indexed in the SERPs then you can use the option to wrap the content inside the noindex tag. And if you want to stop crawlers from crawling the links inside the TOC then you should enable the nofollow option.

    It is recommended to enable those options as links inside the table are for the parts of the same page.

    Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other assistance.

    Thank you for your answer.

    In conclusion, for a more effective SEO, is it recommended that everything related to ”Table of Contents” (links) be indexed by Google?

    I would like TOC to be indexed by Google, that’s why I’m asking if there is a possibility that Google sees duplicate links?

    If there are not, then it is probably OK.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

    The links for specific sections of the same page are known as jump links. Jump links are very useful for navigating through a long page and can present a great user experience.

    However, Google has a lower tendency to index jump links. You may occasionally find jump links indexed but in general, Google does not index them. You can have a look at this thread at Google for a quick reference: https://support.google.com/webmasters/thread/9502913/does-google-index-url-with-ending-word-https-www-page-com-page1-html-exact

    As these links are part of the same page, usually, only the main URL is indexed.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you.

    Thank you
