Additional info: If the title “Table of content” is not changed manually to in my case “Inhaltsverzeichnis” the words “Table of content” are not displayed in the excerpt.
What is still displayed are the list items itself.
What i would like to to is, that the excerpt starts with the article text not with the toc – without manually adding excerpt text to the excerpt box 🙂
Hello,
Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I am not able to replicate the issue on my end with the default WordPress theme. The default excerpt is not showing the TOC content even after changing the title. Please check by switching to a default theme on your site and if it works, please get in touch with your theme’s support and ask them to exclude the TOC from the excerpt they are generating.
Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Hi,
i can confirm that everything is fine with the default wordpress theme.
With other themes it is not – at least with this themes:
Enfold
Imagely
What I have noticed too:
By default (even on a german wordpress) the Table of Content block has a ‘heading’ named Table of Content.
The words “Table of content” are not shown in the excerpt.
But when I change the text to something else (like Inhaltsverzeichnis) the ‘heading’ becomes also part of the excerpt.
Hello,
The enfold theme may be adding a filter to your pages which is causing the table of contents to be read as part of the main content of your page. This is beyond the control of Rank Math. Please contact enfold support and ask them to add a filter that will remove extra blocks from the excerpt as the same thing will be happening with other plugins that have blocks at the top of the page.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have questions.
Ok,
i am already in contact with the enfold team.
Hello,
We are glad that we are able to address your issue. Do let us know how it goes with the Enfold support team and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Thank you.
