Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with the Table of Contents not displaying in your existing posts. Since it works as expected in new posts, it seems there might be a specific issue with the existing content.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this:
- Check Headings: Ensure that your existing posts contain proper heading blocks (H2, H3, etc.) that the Table of Contents can recognize. If there are no headings, the TOC will not display.
- Plugin Conflicts: Sometimes, other plugins can conflict with Rank Math. You can refer to our guide on diagnosing plugin conflicts to see if any other plugin is causing the issue.
- Theme Compatibility: Although you mentioned it’s not a theme issue, ensure that your GeneratePress theme is updated to the latest version, as theme updates can sometimes resolve compatibility issues.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please reply to this ticket with more details about your existing posts or any specific configurations you have, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.
Thank you for raising this concern!

How to Add Rank Math’s Table of Contents Block » Rank Math
Hi,
your Bot answer does not solve my question and all listed tips I already fulfilled before I send you the support ticket. So, what else could it be?
Thanks
Hello,
Could you please confirm if you’re using Generateblocks on your site?
We have asked since. Rank Math Table of Contents (TOC) is primarily designed to work with the default Heading blocks of Gutenberg.
If you’re using GenerateBlocks, the heading data is structured in a way that our TOC block doesn’t recognize it, even if it appears standard in the editor.
Looking forward to helping you.
Yes I use GenerateBlocks Pro Version. So it means I cannot use TOC? But this would be strange because as I explained: when I start a new post and put some heading h1, h2 etc. and using the GP Heading format than TOC is recognizing it and everything works smoothly.
Thanks
Hello,
If you are using the heading blocks from the GenerateBlocks Pro plugin you won’t be able to use the TOC block. Our plugin only supports the default Gutenberg heading blocks.
Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions.
