    Hello,

Thanks for contacting us and we regret the inconvenience caused.

When you enable the Remove Category base and Remove base options, then all the redirections are managed by Rank Math.

However, could you please share some of the affected URLs so that we can further investigate the issue?

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply and for the great tool that you created. I am going to buy this plugin as it is the most advanced i have seen on wordpress and i recentrly noticed how many people are switching to your plug in.

I tried to shorten my urls by removing the category base also shop base on products but there are many 404 errors studently last week and i am not sure if all the redirections were made properly. I have too many redirections from previous categories that take you to a 404 page but this does not happen with the products that the shop base was removed.

    https://prnt.sc/11n3km4

Did i have to do something here with permalinks

    https://prnt.sc/11n5y4a

The main issue here is that all products are redirecting but categories drive to a 404 error.

    Thank you,

    Jerry

    Hello,

We might need to take a closer look at the settings and further investigate the redirection issue. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.

There is a link to a google sheet export of my search console that you can see some of my links not working. Probably most of my indexed page are driving to a 404 after shortening my urls as i previously mentioned

Using a seo tool i saw an indicator that almost anything under the shop base, category base after shortening my urls sends to a 404 a page

Thank you very much for your support!

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us,

As for this case, this could have happened if you had no category base in your permalinks. We always recommend checking your permalinks and if they are okay you can resave the permalinks.

In the affected URLs from the google sheet, you sent you can access them and check if they are producing the 404. If you make a redirection to the actual URL it should resolve these issues on your GSC. Here is a screenshot of how you can easily make a redirection: https://i.rankmath.com/mwpLEI

However, Rank Math should create these redirections upon saving your settings and permalinks.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hello,

this is another problem. I did it, but nothing worked. The redirection was not made.

The 404 redirections does not work.

    What would you recommend?

    Thank you!

You can check it by adding any link and see that it is not redirecting

    What would you recommend?

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Upon creating a redirect I have been able to notice that there is an error of too many redirects. Here is a sample test link I have tried to redirect:

    https://madomedical.gr/%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%84-%CE%BF%CE%AF%CE%BA%CE%BF%CE%BD-%CE%BD%CE%BF%CF%83%CE%B7%CE%BB%CE%B5%CE%AF%CE%B1/%CE%B1%CE%B5%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%83%CF%84%CF%81%CF%8E%CE%BC%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%AC%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%B7%CF%82

In this case, it seems that the may be other plugins causing this redirect or the rules being used when creating a redirection.

We do recommend using an exact match when it comes to redirecting URLs whose slug has changed or the permalinks. I can see some of your links do have the contain matching which may cause multiple redirections. Please resolve this to exact matching.

Next, it may be caused by your .htaccess file. As for this, the best recommendation would be to overwrite it with the WordPress default .htaccess file and then make the test again.

If you are not quite familiar with this, you may provide your FTP credentials in the sensitive data section and we will have this rectified for you.

We are looking forward to helping you.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

It is backed up only on my hosting. Do I need to do anything before on my end?

Will I lose all the other things that plugins write to htaccess like caching and speed rules or these are going to be written again?

Will this fix the issue automatically or I will be able to fix them by writing each redirection?

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math again.

You just have to replace it with the default WP htaccess file or code. If a plugin does have its rules it should be overwritten automatically.

However, it is always nice to keep a backup of your old .htaccess file in case you notice any changes.

You can then need to conduct a troubleshooting step to see if there is any plugin causing this issue as well.
To determine that, please follow this troubleshooting guide:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/check-plugin-conflicts/

Only the site admin would know and your users won’t be affected by this troubleshooting.

You will then need to create the redirections manually for any pages that you had changed. Please ensure that you use the exact matching to avoid multiple redirects.

We really look forward to helping you.
    Thank you.

    Hello,

As far as I see at the 404 monitors are all my links. What does this mean? That all my indexed links have 404 errors?

    https://prnt.sc/123219t

Do you mean to keep these two files? Ok I have them. I asked this because on your previous message you asked me for an ftp in order to refresh it.

I am confused, do you need anything from me to see the issue? The site is backed up on hosting. Is this enough?

    These two files also:
    https://prnt.sc/12326bb

You mentioned that this can be rectified by you?
    https://prnt.sc/1232j6e

Is it safe, since i have my site backed up on hosting?

I already see a decline in organic traffic, is this issue caused be the 404 monitor?

This conversation started with shop base and product category shortenign and i this this caused all the issue.

Yes the issue still remains. Even if i use the exact matching i did not notice any difference. Would you need from me ftp credentials to check it further on htaccess?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Yes please do provide us with some credentials for your FTP, and we will check this ASAP. Also, your WordPress admin temporary link seems to have expired already, would you also update that as well?

If you are getting 404s in your monitor these could cause a drop in organic traffic if they are not redirected. Please make a point of redirecting using 301 them to their corresponding URLs. They seem to have been affected after removing the shop and product category base.

We are looking forward to helping you.
    Thank you.
