Submitting sitemap to google search console

    Hi,
I just updated my website. I followed your previous directions to make the site visible to search engines and confirmed that is it visible here – https://smallseotools.com/meta-tags-analyzer/

then to submit to google, i flushed the Sitemap cache by following your video: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

Since my site uses server side cache – Go Daddy stated that they didn’t cache the sitemap.

Then i removed the existing site map to the old site and submitted my new sitemap in the Google Search console.

Now in Google search console it says that the Sitemap index processed successfully. However when i click on the sitemap is says there were 124 discovered URLs but there are no URLs listed under the sitemaps read section. The See Index Coverage section is greyed out. And when i click on open sitemap i get a blank page. When i enter the URL from wordpress or directly it is working before it was submitted I can see the different sitemaps.

Is this normal? I am not sure if this is correct?

  • Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I’m sorry for the delay and for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

I’ve checked your sitemap, and it seems that it is already working fine. You can validate your sitemap using this tool. Your website’s also already appearing on Google search results.

However, your /robots.txt seems not yet configured. Please delete a static robots.txt file in your website’s root directory as Rank Math will automatically create a default robot.txt virtually. You can follow the steps in this link:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/how-to-edit-robots-txt-with-rank-math/

Here’s the default robots.txt should look like:
    Robots

Once done, please remove all the submitted sitemaps and resubmit your main sitemap only sitemap_index.xml and give Google some time to recrawl your website. Google will use that to get your other sitemaps.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime if you need further assistance.
