Submitting paginated archive pages in sitemap

I had set the paginated category pages to “no-index” by mistake, a few months back. Now I want to index them and submit in the sitemap. How do I do it, now that Google has disabled the manual indexing feature temporarily? I’ve changed the settings on the dashboard. When checked on google search console, some of those pages are indexed but not submitted in the sitemap.

Please let me know what should be done. Thank you.

    Regards,
    Sheeba.

  • Hello,

Thank you so much for getting in touch.

Please share an example of a URL that is not present in the sitemap so we can check.

Make sure the sitemap is excluded from the sitemap: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

We look forward to helping you.

These are 2 examples of pages that show the message, “Indexed, not submitted in sitemap” in search console.

    Hello,

    Thank you for that information.

I’ve checked the URLs you have provided, and it seems that they were already set to index.

Could you also ensure you have only submitted only the main sitemap to your GSC? You should submit /sitemap_index.xml and give it some time to crawl.

I hope that helps. Thank you, and looking forward to your update.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Rank Math and sorry for any inconvenience that might have been caused due to that.

It is likely your sitemap is not refreshed and up to date as it is being cached: https://i.rankmath.com/NAkSqY

Can you please follow these steps?

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
    https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. Head to your WordPress dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and save the settings again.

If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
    Sensitive Data Section

It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:

You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):

We really look forward to helping you.
