Store Set-up with Retail & Wholesale Products

    My store is created to hide wholesale items from it’s non-logged in wholesale users. So we have each product created twice in woocommerce, one as a wholesale price and SKU, and one as a retail price and SKU.

    My question is whether it hurts the SEO on my store to leave the wholesale products alone, or if I put the same SEO details in for the wholesale products as well.

    I would not recommend indexing the wholesale products when they contain the same SEO details since this would cause duplicate content issues which might end up affecting your SEO.

    Thanks for the response!

    With that in mind, should I utilize the Canonical URL’s function to show only the main product I want to be indexed?

    Example:
    My retail product is /retail-product1
    My wholesale product is /wholesale-product1
    Under my rankmath settings for the /wholesale-product1 should i set the Canonical URL to “/retail-product1”

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the follow up.

    Doing this might cause an error because the canonical would be different from the page URL. Changing the robots meta to noindex should be sufficient.
