If you don’t want to get your sites indexed then please navigate to WP Dashboard > Settings > Reading and Check the Search Engine Visibility option to Discourage Search Engines from Indexing your site. Do this on both your live and staging sites if you don’t want both of them to get indexed.

Im sorry I think I wasnt clear. I meant to ask, since it is a staging site, I dont want it to be indexed. I want my life site to be indexed by search enginges. However, if I deindex my staging site, then when I push it live, that will deindex my live site, is there any workaround so that I will have my settings set on my live site without having to redo them every time I push it live?

You can get in touch with your hosting provider and ask them to set an HTTP authentication for your staging site. It will stop Google from crawling and indexing your site without setting it as Noindex.
