Staging / Live settings issue

    Hello Support Team,

I’m currently facing an issue with my WordPress site when using the staging → live push feature in Softaculous.
    • On my live site I have Rank Math SEO configured properly.
    • On the staging site, I disable indexing to avoid duplicate content issues.
    • Every time I push the staging version live, all my Rank Math settings on the live site get overwritten by the staging database.

From what I understand, Rank Math stores its configuration in the database (wp_options rows with rank_math_% and custom wp_rank_math_* tables). When Softaculous replaces the live database with the staging one, it erases the live SEO settings.

    My question:
Is it possible to exclude the Rank Math plugin data (options and tables) from the staging → live push, so that the live SEO configuration remains intact? If yes, could you please let me know how to configure this exclusion, or is there a specific method you recommend to prevent this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Best regards,
    Franck

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your WordPress site regarding the staging to live push feature in Softaculous. Thank you for raising this concern.

To prevent your Rank Math settings from being overwritten when pushing your staging site to live, you can consider the following approaches:

    1. Manual Database Exclusion: Unfortunately, Softaculous does not provide a built-in feature to exclude specific tables or options during the database overwrite process. However, you can manually back up your live site’s Rank Math settings before performing the push. After pushing the staging site live, you can restore the Rank Math settings from the backup.

    2. Using a Migration Plugin: Instead of using Softaculous for pushing changes, consider using a migration plugin that allows selective migration of database tables. Plugins like WP Migrate DB or All-in-One WP Migration can help you exclude specific tables (like those used by Rank Math) during the migration process.

    3. Custom Scripts: If you’re comfortable with coding, you could create a custom script that runs after the database push to restore the Rank Math settings from a backup or to reset them to their original values.

    4. Staging Environment Best Practices: When working with staging environments, it’s often best to keep SEO-related settings on the live site and only push content changes from staging to live. This way, you can avoid overwriting important configurations.
