Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention.
Yes, your procedure is correct since it is still in a staging environment.
There is no unique way of treating a staging site that is different than the productions site. Once you have pushed your site to live, all your Rank Math settings you have made in your staging site would still be intact.
The only basic difference would probably be the steps you have mentioned, which you may need to set up when the site is already live.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
hi,
I push my staging live several times a month so I’d like to set it up once and not mess up with the ranking etc.
The staging site is not being indexed because I set “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” in the WP settings.
So could i copy the settings from the live site to the staging environment so both are exactly the same apart from the WP Settings?
I could also protect with password in cp panel but I read that that could also impact the live site seo results: https://medium.com/daniels-tech-world/tutorial-creating-a-password-protected-wordpress-staging-environment-using-softaculous-and-3baead4337e
best,
Merlijn
Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
Yes, you can export your live site’s Rank Math settings (Titles & Meta, General Settings, etc.) via the Import & Export option in Rank Math > Status & Tools.
Here’s a link for more information:

There are some users that are using password-protected staging sites as well. You’ll just need to ensure that this feature will be disabled once you have deployed/pushed your site to live. If it’s not getting disabled, I would suggest getting in touch with your web host to check your cPanel.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
