Should have read, sorry:
“The issue can be seen from the canonical tag on rankmath.com (which contains a trailing slash) even though the site responds (and redirects) to a version _without_ a final slash.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Rank Math and bringing your concern to our attention. I have separated your concern into a new ticket to assist you further.
As my colleague mentioned, the canonical is automatically generated, which means it is generated for the post/page while it is being loaded not while editing the page.
That said, the canonical that you should check and be concerned if it is not as expected is the one shown at the front end of your page.
You can also share your website link so we can check on our end.
I hope that helps.
Thank you.
Hello,
I have updated the sensitive data as requested. Can you please check further?
Thank you.
Hello,
Thank you for providing those explanations.
When comparing your actual domain URL and its canonical tag, this doesn’t really matter as the search engines will just see the same URL. Please refer to this short article here explaining it: https://ahrefs.com/blog/trailing-slash/
If you are not sure whether you need to add a trailing slash or not, it was also explained in that article. https://i.rankmath.com/APWwki
I hope this clarifies your doubt. Thank you.
Hi Jeremy,
Thank you for the reply – I’ve reread the prior support threads.
I still don’t understand why the plugin sets a different canonical url than the one which is set in/by WordPress – regardless of your stance that the two url’s a treated as 100% synonymous Google.
On many sites, the two versions (with or without slash) respond with 301 redirects.
Thanks again,
Kasper
Hello,
We might need to take a closer look at the settings and the issue. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.
Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
It is completely secure and only our support staff has access to that section. If you want, you can use the below plugin to generate a temporary login URL to your website and share that with us instead:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/temporary-login-without-password/
You can use the above plugin in conjunction with the WP Security Audit Log to monitor what changes our staff might make on your website (if any):
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-security-audit-log/
We really look forward to helping you.
Hello,

If you still need assistance or any other help, please feel free to open a new support ticket, and we will be more than happy to assist.
Thank you.
