Since using Rank Math my slug on google hasn’t used my site name. site:scepticstravelguide.ie just shows the category for every single post. I don’t want the category, I want the post name. I’ve even elected to “Strip Category Base” and it still isn’t working.

Hello,
I apologize for the issue you are facing with the slugs not displaying the post names as expected. It sounds like you’ve already taken the right steps by enabling the "Strip Category Base" option in Rank Math. However, if the slugs are still showing the category instead of the post name, there may be a few additional settings to check.
-
Permalink Settings: Ensure that your permalink structure is set to include the post name. You can do this by going to WordPress Dashboard → Settings → Permalinks and selecting the Post name option. This will ensure that your URLs are structured correctly.
-
Check Individual Post Settings: When editing each post, make sure that the slug is set correctly in the Permalink section of the post editor. You can edit it directly there if needed.
-
Caching Issues: Sometimes, caching plugins or server-side caching can cause old URLs to be displayed. Clear any caches you might have on your site and check again.
If you’ve checked all these settings and the issue persists, please reply to this ticket with your site URL so that a human agent from our support team can assist you further. Thank you for raising this concern, and we’re here to help!

Hello,
We’ve checked your site, and the sitename is already added to your post titles: Sceptic’s Travel Guide
You can verify the title and description meta tags if they are already set:

https://rankmath.com/tools/meta-tag-analyzer/If the title/description is already set in the page’s source code, please note that Google and other search engines sometimes ignore the custom meta info altogether and show something from the page’s content that matches the search intent better.

Sorry Reinelle that was a typo – The Post title is not showing I meant. The site title is of course but it’s just showing the category instead of the post since using Rank Math. Can you help with that?
Hello,
The post title is already showing fine on the search results page
Can you please provide the image where the category is shown so we can check? You can upload screenshots using this tool and add the link here.
Looking forward to helping you.
I’ve uploaded an image showing the category is in the slug, not the post title. “Experience the World” is a category. “things-to-do-Salou” would be the post title
Hello,
Based on the example you provided, it looks like Google is displaying the breadcrumb path as:
Home › Experience the World :
[Post Title]This reflects the hierarchical structure of your site, where “Experience the World” is the parent category, and the post is nested under it. Google often uses this structure in search results to show the path leading to the content, which is expected behavior.
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Hi Ike,
But does the fact that I have stripped the category base not stop it showing the Experience the World category, as was my intention?
Hello,
The “Strip Category Base” option only affects the URL structure of your site (i.e., it removes /category/ from URLs like yoursite.com/category/travel). However, it does not control how Google displays breadcrumbs in search results.
Google generates breadcrumbs based on your site’s hierarchy and internal linking structure, not just the URL. Since “Experience the World” is the post’s category, Google may still show it in the breadcrumb to reflect content organization.
Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.
Ah okay thanks
