Situation with local business shema.

I am an energy consultant for a company called “Bright Panel” based in Puerto Rico. As part of our guidelines, consultants are required to include “by (consultant name)” in any advertising, social media posts, or products when representing the company. Consequently, my Google My Business account is named “Bright Panel by Juan Rivera” and is linked to my personal consulting website. The company itself also has a separate Google My Business account under the name “Bright Panel.” I am concerned that Google might associate their Google Business account with my website, which is currently ranking for the “Bright Panel” keyword. I am unsure if this detail affects the schema setup.

    Thanks for the help,
    Juan P. Rivera

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing regarding the local business schema and your Google My Business account. It’s understandable to be concerned about how Google might associate your business with the company’s account.

When setting up your LocalBusiness schema, it’s important to ensure that the schema accurately reflects your business details. Since you are operating as an energy consultant under the name "Bright Panel by Juan Rivera," you should configure your schema to reflect this relationship clearly. Here are a few steps you can take:

    1. Use the Correct Schema Type: Make sure to select the LocalBusiness schema type for your consulting website. This will help Google understand that your business is a local entity.

    2. Specify Your Business Name: In the schema, use the name "Bright Panel by Juan Rivera" as the name property. This will differentiate your business from the main company account.

    3. Include Additional Details: Ensure that you include relevant details such as your address, phone number, and any other information that helps define your business.

    4. Test Your Schema: After setting up your schema, use the Google Rich Results Testing Tool to verify that it is correctly implemented and recognized by Google.

If you need to add multiple areas served or specific details about your business, you can refer to our guide on adding multiple "areaServed" cities to your LocalBusiness Schema.

If you have further questions or need assistance with specific configurations, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from the Rank Math Support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern, and we hope this information helps clarify your situation!

    Hello,

Adding “by Juan Rivera” to your Google My Business listing is a good approach to distinguish your consulting profile from the main company listing.

In terms of schema, you can continue using the “Local Business” schema but specify yourself as a representative or consultant under “Bright Panel.” This helps Google understand the distinction.

You might also consider adding schema properties like “sameAs” to link directly to your profile on the main company’s website if this is available, which can further clarify the relationship. https://rankmath.com/kb/sameas-schema/

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the Reply, Ike

When you say,”but specify yourself as a representative or consultant under “Bright Panel.” In which field of the Local Business schema should I specify this information.

    Thanks again.

    Hello,

In the Local Business schema, you can include this information in the “Person/Organization Name” field as “Bright Panel by Juan Rivera” to reflect your role accurately. Additionally, you may use the “description” field to mention that you are a consultant representing Bright Panel. https://rankmath.com/kb/local-seo/#person-name

These details can help clarify your association for search engines.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

After resetting the schema markup for “local Business” I noticed that this schema option is not available in RankMath’s metabox option for the home page.

    Hello,

The local business schema along with the other default schemas added by Rank Math are added on the live pages. They are not available in the meta box.

You can check them by using an online Structured Data Testing Tool (SDTT) like https://validator.schema.org/.

    We hope this helps.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the reply,

Should I use a service schema on the home page?

    Hello,

If your homepage describes the service, then yes otherwise, it’d be best to use the Service schema on the actual page that describes the service, i.e. brigtpanel.com/consulting.

We hope this helps clarify the issue. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
