My website’s sitemap_index.xml currently only includes these 7 sitemaps:
    /post-sitemap.xml
    /page-sitemap.xml
    /product-sitemap1.xml
    /product-sitemap2.xml
    /product-sitemap3.xml
    /category-sitemap.xml
    /local-sitemap.xml

However, my product category, product tag, and filter attribute sitemaps have been generated and are accessible, but they are not included in sitemap_index.xml. What could be the reason for this, and how can I resolve it?

For example, these items below are missing:
    /pa_application-sitemap.xml
    /product_cat-sitemap.xml
    /product_tag-sitemap.xml

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap_index.xml being incomplete. This can happen for a few reasons, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

    Possible Reasons for Missing Sitemaps:

    1. Sitemap Settings: Ensure that the settings for including product categories, tags, and attributes in the sitemap are enabled. You can check this in the Rank Math settings under Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings.

    2. Caching Issues: Sometimes, caching plugins can interfere with the generation of sitemaps. If you are using a caching plugin, try clearing the cache to see if that resolves the issue.

    3. Plugin Conflicts: There may be conflicts with other plugins that could prevent certain sitemaps from being included. You can check for conflicts using the Health Check plugin.

    4. Custom Canonicals: If you have set custom canonical URLs for your products or categories, those might not appear in the sitemap. Ensure that you are not using custom canonicals that could affect their inclusion.

    Steps to Resolve:

    • Go to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings and verify that all relevant options for product categories, tags, and attributes are enabled.
    • Clear any caching on your site and check if the missing sitemaps appear in the sitemap index afterward.
    • If the issue persists, consider disabling other plugins temporarily to identify any conflicts.

If you have checked all these settings and still face issues, please reply to this ticket with your website URL so that a human agent can assist you further. Thank you for your understanding!

Why does the sitemap_index.xml work in Rank Math, but opening the sitemap results in a 404 error?

    Hello,

In this case, head over to your website files /uploads/rankmath/, and delete any XML files from that path.

If the issue persists, we might need to take a closer look at the settings. Please edit the first post on this ticket and include your WordPress & FTP logins in the designated Sensitive Data section.

Please do take a complete backup of your website before sharing the information with us.
