My sitemap index was showing in google search results when a customer searched for a product. Instead of being taken to a product, the customer would see a bunch of rank math index pages. Any idea why this might be happening?? Thanks

    Hi Damon,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

Rank Math’s sitemap file is named sitemap_index.xml and there is a proper noindex tag on it.

The sitemap.xml file might be added by some other plugin on your website. Please check the page source of the file to determine where it is added from.

Hope that helps and please do not hesitate to let us know if you need our assistance with anything else.

Hi Todd. No. The sitemap_index.xml has rank math all over it.

I removed the sitemap from google search console and added it back in. Hopefully that will force a reindex.

    HI Damon,

    Thanks for the reply.

This should fix it, if not let us know so that we can investigate further.

Please remember to purge your site cache as well and check for static pages on your site with the name sitemap_index.xml.

    Thank you.
