Please note that crawling and indexing of the website depends on the authority and crawl budget of the website.
However, make sure that the Sitemap filesare excluded in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:

Once done, clear the website cache and resubmit the sitemap_index.xml in the Search Console

There is no cache plugin active; neigter is there any server side caching active.
The site is fairly new.
Do I then just have to be patient? And in the meanwhile creating more authority and improving the site?
