Hello there. I ran into an issue. The issue is that the url /sitemap_index.xml results in a 404. This means the sitemap file isn’t created. I’ve already disabled all other plugins, but the issue persisted. I’ve also taken all steps in this tutorial: https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/ but that didn’t resolve the issue either. What should I do to make the sitemap work?

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap returning a 404 error. Since you’ve already disabled other plugins and followed the tutorial on excluding sitemaps from caching, we recommend trying to flush your permalinks as this often resolves sitemap issues.
Here’s how to do it:
- Go to your WordPress admin area.
- Navigate to Settings → Permalinks.
- Click the Save Changes button once, even if you didn’t make any changes on the page.

We have conducted troubleshooting on your website and when we disable the plugin called “janse-custom-made”, the sitemap works perfectly fine as you can see from this screenshot:
It appears that this custom plugin is breaking the sitemap’s stylesheet, causing it to return a 404 page.
Please contact the developer of that plugin and insure its functionality doesn’t affect the generation of our sitemap.
