Hello,
We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap and the published dates. When you change the published dates of your posts, Rank Math should automatically update the sitemap to reflect those changes. However, if the sitemap is still showing the old dates, here are a few steps you can take:
-
Clear Cache: If you are using any caching plugins, clear the cache to ensure that the latest changes are reflected.
-
Regenerate Sitemap: You can regenerate your sitemap by navigating to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings in your WordPress dashboard. Make sure to save the settings after making any changes to trigger a regeneration of the sitemap.
-
Check Sitemap Index: If you have multiple sitemaps, ensure you are checking the correct sitemap index URL. You can find it in the same settings area mentioned above.
-
Verify Structured Data: Ensure that the structured data for your posts has been updated with the new dates. You can check this using the Rich Results Test tool by entering the URL of your post and looking for datePublished and dateModified properties.
-
Sitemap Visibility: Regarding your concern about not seeing the sitemaps in the root folder via FTP, please note that Rank Math generates sitemaps dynamically, and they may not appear as physical files in your root directory. Instead, you can access them via the URL, typically at yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml.
If after following these steps the issue persists, please reply to this ticket, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.
Thank you for raising this concern! We hope this helps resolve your issue.
This is odd, the dynamic sitemap still shows the original published date. I created a sitemap page and it shows the dates I would like.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks!
Stan
Hello,
Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Unfortunately, this behavior is due to how WordPress stores and manages post data, and it’s reflected in the sitemap accordingly. The post’s date modified and date published are different variables. While the published date is expected to be constant, the last modified date is updated whenever a change is made to the page/post.
Rank Math adapts the sitemap’s last mod. date from the post/page/CPT date modified variable.
If you want the post’s date modified variable to be updated to the published date, you may want to refer to this thread: https://wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/284048/update-modified-date-when-scheduled-posts-get-published
We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
Thank you.
Thank you for the explanation and the information for me to read through
