  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap. The "Couldn’t fetch" error for your post_sitemap.xml can be caused by several factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap

Make sure your post_sitemap.xml is correctly configured. You can use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check for any issues.

    2. Check Sitemap Location

Ensure that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:

    https://httpstatus.io/

    3. Flush Permalinks

Sometimes, flushing permalinks can resolve issues with sitemaps. Go to Settings → Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and click Save Changes without making any changes.

    4. Check Robots.txt

Ensure that your robots.txt file is not blocking access to your post_sitemap.xml. You can check this by going to Rank Math SEO → General Settings → robots.txt.

    5. Check for Plugin Conflicts

There might be a conflict with another plugin. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.

    6. Custom Canonicals

If you have set custom canonical URLs for your posts, they may not appear in the sitemap. Consider removing custom canonicals to allow Rank Math to generate them correctly.

    7. Clear Cache

If you are using a caching plugin, clear your website cache and try submitting the sitemap again in Google Search Console.

If you have tried all these steps and the issue persists, we recommend replying to this ticket with any specific error messages or details you encounter, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for raising this concern!

i tries all of what your bot write to me and it still dont work.

    Hello,

Thank you for contacting us. We apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

Please try to follow the steps below and see if that works for you.

    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast: https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    3. If the above steps don’t seem to work, kindly apply the following filter to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add a filter/hook to your WordPress site:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

Once done, clear your website cache, remove all the submitted sitemaps, and resubmit only the index sitemap in the Search Console.

Let us know how it goes. Looking forward to helping you.

    Thank you.

    Hey,
The: /post-sitemap.xml still on status: Couldn’t fetch .

    what i need to do?

    Hello,

Your sitemap index is returning a 404 error.

Upon further checking, you have sitemaps accessible in the /wp-sitemap.xml path.

Please note that we recommend using a single plugin to handle your sitemaps to avoid conflicting issues such as this one.

    Looking forward to helping you.

    Yeah i know about that.
I disable the “sitemap” option from Rank Math plugin to check if this will fix this problem but it isn’t fix it.
The /post-sitemap.xml still on status: Couldn’t fetch .
what can i do with it?

    Hello,

It appears that Google is labeling all sitemaps as “Couldn’t fetch” until they are actually read. Once the sitemap is read, the ‘Last read’ column will display the date it was last read. It usually takes a few hours or days for Google to read the submitted sitemap, so we kindly ask for your patience as you wait for the ‘Last read’ column to update.

As for disabling the Rank Math sitemap, if you wish to do so, you can deactivate all Rank Math sitemap features by going to Rank Math > Dashboard > Modules > Sitemap.

We hope this information helps you resolve the issue. Please feel free to reach out to us with any other questions or concerns regarding Rank Math. We are always here to assist you.

    Thank you
