Sitemap Parts are Could Not Fetch

    My sitemap is https://astrovibrance.com/sitemap_index.xml

I made all the changes as given by the Rank Math tutorial to submit the sitemap.

However, the sitemap is now read by Google, but some parts of it are still not fetched, like
    1. category-sitemap.xml,
    2. page-sitemap.xml,
    3. product_cat-sitemap.xml

Only these two are read by Google
    1. post-sitemap.xml
    2. product-sitemap.xml

    How to get these fetched?

  • Hello,

I apologize for the issue you are facing with your sitemap. It seems that while some parts of your sitemap are being fetched by Google, others are still encountering issues. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap

Make sure that your sitemap is correctly configured. You can use the Validate XML Sitemap tool to check for any issues. If there are no issues detected, it will confirm that your sitemap is valid.

    2. Check Sitemap Location

Ensure that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:

    https://rankmath.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Save-Changes.jpg

    3. Ensure Posts and Categories Are Set to Index

Make sure that all your posts and categories are set to index. You can do this by going to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and ensuring that the Index checkbox is enabled for the relevant sections.

    4. Flush the Cache

If your sitemap appears outdated, you may need to flush the cache. Navigate to Rank Math SEO → Sitemap Settings, increase the value of Links Per Sitemap by one, and then save your settings. After that, go to Settings → Permalinks and click Save Changes to ensure the current settings are applied.

    5. Exclude the Sitemap From Caching

Ensure that your sitemap is not being cached by any caching plugins or server-side caching. You can refer to this article on ensuring that your sitemaps are excluded from caching.

    6. Resubmit Your Sitemap

After making these changes, resubmit your sitemap in Google Search Console under Indexing → Sitemaps. Make sure there are no spaces in the sitemap URL when submitting.

    7. Wait for Google to Fetch Again

Sometimes, it may take a while for Google to fetch the updated sitemap. If you’ve made all the necessary changes and submitted it again, you may just need to wait for Google to crawl it again.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with any specific error messages or behaviors you’re observing, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

    Hello,

It appears that Google is labeling all sitemaps as “Couldn’t fetch” until they are actually read. Once the sitemap is read, the ‘Last read’ column will display the date it was last read. It usually takes a few hours or days for Google to read the submitted sitemap, so we kindly ask for your patience as you wait for the ‘Last read’ column to update.

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.

    Thank you.

So far only 2 pages are indexed despite 10 days being passed.

    Hello,

Your category sitemap is currently returning a 404 page so we checked your sitemap settings in your website and can confirm that this sitemap is not included, as you can see from the screenshot below:

    Rank Math support

This indicates that Google is still reading an old version of your sitemap.

To fix that, we suggest following the steps thoroughly:

    Please follow the steps below:

    1. Go to your Sitemap settings in Rank Math and make sure that the post types and taxonomies you wanted to include in the sitemap are turned on.

    2. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

    3. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
    https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/

    4. Apply the following filter code to your site.

    add_filter( 'rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching', '__return_false');

Here’s how you can add filter to your WordPress site:https://rankmath.com/kb/wordpress-hooks-actions-filters/

    5. Remove all your sitemaps from your Google Search Console and re-submit only the index sitemap (https://website.com/sitemap_index.xml)

Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
