Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
Could you please confirm if your homepage is not a static page and it displays the latest posts? You can also check this from your WordPress admin area > Settings > Reading.
If yes, then since the homepage only shows the latest posts and its actual contents are not modified, the last modified date is not displayed.
The last modified date for the homepage is correctly shown when the homepage is set as a static page.
Looking forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you.
My homepage displays my latest blog posts, yes sir.
I also find it interesting that a competitor site using the RankMath is different:

Hello,
Your competitor might have implemented the pages differently i.e, they might have a static page where the posts are being rendered.
However, there’s nothing to be worried about here as the homepage is only displaying the links to the latest posts.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
But that doesn’t answer the initial concern/question though. Is this how RankMath works? Because from what I’ve seen, that’s not supposed to be the case.
The homepage should have at least information on when it was modified.
Hello,
As mentioned in my first reply, since the homepage only shows the latest posts and its actual contents are not modified, the last modified date is not displayed.
When the homepage is set to display the latest posts, you have little to no control over it. In that case, whenever a new post is published, a new block is added to the homepage. However, that can’t be assumed to be the homepage being specifically modified.
Whereas when the homepage is a static page, you fully control it and when it is updated, the last modified date is also shown/updated.
Also, when the homepage shows the latest posts, the aim is to get the posts indexed as the homepage already remains indexed.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.
Two things on that.
1. From what I’ve shown from one of my competitors, it shows that there is information about their home page as to when it was modified.
2. Yoast also has the same behavior with sitemaps and even with the default WordPress sitemap. I also checked with The SEO Framework, it’s the same behavior.
With that said, I’m thinking that this has something to do with my settings in RankMath that you and I can’t figure out. But thanks for your help. I’ll just look it up myself.
Hello,
Can you please share the URL of your site in the sensitive data section so we can check?
You can also try following the steps given below:
1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:
https://i.rankmath.com/pipRDp
2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
https://rankmath.com/kb/exclude-sitemaps-from-caching/
Let us know how that goes. Looking forward to helping you.
Thanks.
