Please flush your permalinks by heading over to your WordPress admin area and go to Settings > Permalinks and hit the “Save Changes” button once even if you didn’t make any changes on the page.
It is also important to ensure that you are passing your complete site URL to GSC like so http://site_domain.com/sitemap_index.xml
If the issue persists, please edit the sensitive data section and add some temporary admin access to your site and your GSC console credentials so that we can check this for you.

I have added the new screenshot link in the sensitive section. Flushed permalink and resubmitted sitemap. Double checked the URL. It is correct. Please help.

The sitemap is working fine.
I even checked it here and it works great: https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html
We might need access to GSC as well and see what is wrong.
