Sitemap Not Update search console properly

1. Validate Your Sitemap

Make sure your sitemap is correctly configured. You can validate it using the Validate XML Sitemap tool. If there are no issues detected, it should confirm that your sitemap is set up correctly.

2. Ensure the Sitemap is Located in the Root Folder

Check that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The URL should look like this:
https://yourdomainname.com/sitemap_index.xml

3. Check Indexing Settings

Ensure that your posts are set to index. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and make sure the Index checkbox is enabled in the Robots Meta settings.

4. Resubmit Your Sitemap in Google Search Console

After making any necessary changes, remove your sitemap from Google Search Console and then submit it again.

5. Wait for Google to Index Your Content

Keep in mind that Google may take some time to index new content. It’s normal for newly published posts to take days or even weeks to appear in search results. Factors like your site’s domain authority and posting frequency can affect indexing speed.

Please note that Google assigns a crawl budget to your website depending on these factors (especially these two) and that has a direct effect on how soon or how late your content can get indexed.

It depends on a lot of factors. Your posting frequency + the domain authority are just two of the many factors Google considers when indexing some new URLs.

Please check your sitemap if the number of URLs shown there is correct. If it is so, the issue is likely on Google where the report is not yet up to date. Google does not always instantly process all URLs in a sitemap. We recommend waiting a bit and trying a manual re-submission in Google Search Console.

If all your posts and pages are indexed without any issues, then Google is using internal links as references rather than the sitemap. Please also note that your sitemap is just a backup crawling mechanism for Google.
