Sitemap not indexed due to X-Robots-Tag

    Hello,

    I’ve been experiencing issues in GSC, it can’t index my sitemaps because it gives a no-index tag in the X-Robots-Tag. I ran a test in Websniffer and this was the result: https://websniffer.cc/?url=https://ilipily.com/sitemap_index.xml. It also seems that only the sitemaps have the no-index tag, my main domain doesn’t have it.

    I’m using Cloudflare and tried clearing the cache multiple times after editing my sitemaps. I checked my robots.txt and there’s nothing that tells search engines to disallow my sitemaps.

    Are the X-Robots-Tag not written in my robots.txt because I can’t find them anywhere?

    Thank you for getting in touch with us.

    It is completely normal to have noindex on the sitemap URLs. It is done on purpose so your sitemaps do not become part of the index.

    The only thing you need to do with your sitemap index is to submit it to Google and other search engines.

    You do not want or need to get it index and appearing in SERPs.

    Thanks for the information!
    I wasn’t sure if this was an issue since GSC gave the status that it couldn’t read my sitemaps due to a no-index tag. It seems to be fixed now, maybe an error on the GSC side.
