It looks like the permalink structure on your website is set to plain which is why the URL is not changed in Sitemap settings.
To change this, you need to set the permalink structure to Post name at WordPress settings > Permalinks
Please note that changing the permalinks on a live, indexed, and established site may result in a serious loss of traffic.

after changing the settings by following above instructions, where will sitemap index link point?
1) website url, or
2) post url
thing is i want to create sitemap index link for my newly launched website, so that my website could be discoverable on google search console.
(point to note: i havn’t wrote a single post yet.)

i have one more question to ask….
yesterday i created xml sitemap file from https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ and manually uploaded it into the domain root folder of my website . and now i have corrected permalink setting, will they contradict each other?

I am glad that your first issue has been resolved.
As for the manually uploaded sitemap file. It may cause a conflict with ours especially if you set the same XML file names.
