#978309
  • Hi Friend,
I use Rankmath to generate sitemap for my web, and it goes well.

After I updated Rankmath plugis 2 or 3 weeks ago, sitemap status at google search console shows “Couldn’t fetch”

I click to check out and found that only one of category-sitemap.xml is fale, other works well. Could you help to find out whats wrong with the sitemap that generated by Rankmath?

    Thank you

  • Hello,

We apologize for the issue you are facing with the sitemap showing a "Couldn’t fetch" error in Google Search Console. Thank you for providing your website URL and the screenshot.

Since you mentioned that only one of the category-sitemap.xml files is failing, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Validate Your Sitemap

You can validate your sitemap using the Validate XML Sitemap tool. Enter your sitemap URL and check if there are any issues detected.

    2. Check Sitemap Location

Ensure that your sitemap is located in the root folder of your WordPress installation. The correct URL should look like this:

    3. Ensure Posts Are Set to Index

Make sure that your posts are set to index. Go to Rank Math SEO → Titles & Meta and ensure the Index checkbox is enabled in the Robots Meta settings.

    4. Rename the Sitemap File

Sometimes, renaming the sitemap file can help. In Google Search Console, go to Indexing → Sitemaps, and try submitting a new sitemap URL like:

    5. Check for Plugin Conflicts

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, check for any plugin conflicts that might be affecting the sitemap generation. You can use the Health Check plugin to help identify conflicts.

If you continue to experience issues after trying these steps, please reply to this ticket with any additional details or errors you encounter, and a human agent from our support team will assist you further.

Thank you for your patience, and we hope this helps resolve your sitemap issue!

    Hello,

Your /category-sitemap.xml has not yet been crawled by Google, however, it is already validating fine using this tool:
    https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/validate-xml-sitemap.html

You will also notice that the other sub-sitemaps are already read, and the date for the category sitemap is blank.

Please give Google some time to crawl your category-sitemap, and the “Last read” date column will be updated as well.

    Looking forward to helping you.
