2. Flush Cache: If you have a caching plugin, try flushing the cache and ensure that the sitemap is excluded from caching. You can find more details on how to do this here.

3. Check for Plugin Conflicts: There might be a conflict with another plugin or theme. You can use the Health Check plugin to identify any conflicts.

4. Static File Conflict: Ensure there is no static file named sitemap_index.xml on your server that could be conflicting with the dynamically generated sitemap. You can check this via FTP and remove any such file if it exists.

5. Permalinks: Sometimes, simply saving your permalinks again can resolve issues with sitemap generation. Go to Settings > Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard and click Save Changes without making any changes.

Meanwhile, assuming you are using the latest version of all the plugins and the themes (please update if not yet), this can be caused by conflicting plugins/theme on your site.
